Serengeti Migration Camp

Operated by Elewana Afrika the Serengeti Migration camp aims to offer luxury accommodation in the heart of the bush. With plush décor and luxury facilities, the Serengeti Migration Camp is ideally suited to those in search of comfort rather than an authentic safari experience.

Accommodation at Serengeti Migration Camp

The camp features 20 spacious tents. These are built on raised platforms and feature hardwood floors; they are part-tent, part-chalet in reality.  Each tent is secluded enough to feel private, and, while not aesthetically pleasing from the outside, inside they are tastefully furnished with a sense colonial elegance.

All rooms feature en suites with double basins and good showers which are supplied with solar heated water. Rooms are equipped with electric points for charging phones/cameras etc. as well as hairdryers, digital safes and room fans. Rooms have forest views or views of the local Grumeti River and watering hole. Expect to be woken at night by the snorting of hippos.

Food and Drink at Serengeti Migration Camp

The camp’s restaurant overlooks the Grumeti River. It offers plated meals. Food is of a high standard, though bush dining is never exceptional as facilities and ingredients can be somewhat limited. Service is generally good and staff are courteous and obliging. Sadly the dining experience at the camp is often marred by the presence of ubiquitous bugs in the evening. This is one of the discomforts that must commonly be borne on safari.

A split-level lounge and a sundeck are also available for guests to relax with a well-prepared drink on, or a local beer or glass of wine. While drinks options aren’t extensive, they are not over-priced and are of good quality.

Guests often gather round the nightly campfire to enjoy their drinks and a range of complimentary snacks.

Service at Serengeti Migration Camp

Staff are friendly and diligent and have good English. Expect to be met on arrival with refreshments. As the hotel’s management team and workers are highly knowledgeable they will go out of their way to make sure you are getting the most out of the region and your stay there.

Services on offer include laundry, valet service, babysitting and room service. The camp offers wedding and honeymoon packages.

The hotel offers a good sized and well-maintained pool with a view over the Serengeti.

Things to do at Serengeti Migration Camp

As well as game drives and tours of the Serengeti National Park, the hotel can help organise walks along the Grumeti River, Bird-watching and Balloon safaris (must be booked in advance).

Guests are warned that out of season the hotel is located an arduous drive from much of the regions best wildlife.
