Seronera Wildlife Lodge

The Seronera Wildlife Lodge is an exceptionally well located property with some excellent views. However, the hotel itself is mediocre at best and many feel that it is overpriced for the standard of accommodation and service on offer.

Accommodation at Seronera Wildlife Lodge

The lodge offers 75 rooms; king-size doubles, twins, presidential suites and one junior suite. Rooms are all en suite and most offer good views over the Serengeti Plains. Rooms should be equipped with mosquito nets, but often these are missing or ragged-enquire at reception.

Rooms also feature 220/240V for shavers, safe, mini bar, telephone, tea/coffee-making facilities and hair dryer.

Rooms are an ample size, but twin rooms especially can feel small. While the hotel has just been renovated smaller details (towels/mosquito nets) could use replacing in some suites. Rooms have thin walls and so the hotel can get noisy.

While the hotel offers hot water this has a tendency to be unreliable in this region and often runs tepid. Electricity in the hotel is switched off between midnight and 5am. Guests are advised to bring torches for if they need to get up in the middle of the night.[/tab]

Food and Drink at Seronera Wildlife Lodge

The lodge offers a reasonable but uninspired breakfast, packed lunches that are typically bland and not especially satisfying and buffet dinners. The food is not particularly varied, and though passable can seem tasteless and less than fresh.

While the restaurant can get busy it is reasonably equipped. The bar area and the hotel’s observation deck are pleasant spots to enjoy a drink. However, drinks at the lodge are quite pricey so beware. Do ask for receipts and keep track of your orders. The lodges in this region are renowned for over-charging.

Service at Seronera Wildlife Lodge

The staff at the lodge are not particularly friendly and due to strict management policies are often unable to improvise and help with travellers’ requests. While they are trying their best they are over-worked and under-trained.

The hotel offers babysitting services and laundry on request and has an onsite nurse. Credit cards are accepted (with a charge) and there are currency exchange facilities. The hotel offers telephone and internet services, but lines can be unreliable and the services are expensive.

Things to do at Seronera Wildlife Lodge

The hotel is ideally situated for some excellent game drives, ornithological safaris, specialized migration safaris, photographic safaris and cultural visits. The hotel can help organise hot air balloon trips and picnics. The hotel is located near some wonderful hippo pools.

The lodge has a newly renovated swimming pool overlooking the park and fully-equipped gymnasium as well as a small library and a satellite TV lounge.
